It’s me again, Buddy, the library dog, barking at you from the library.
Well, it finally happened, I got a promotion. Yup, not only can you read about the library news from me online but I now have a book review to add to my resume (if dogs have resumes).
My pet heard about a book titled “A Dog’s Purpose”. So, she read it to me, like I needed to know what my purpose was around this place and home.
She smiled, frowned, laughed and cried while reading that thing. One thing I know and like was after she was done reading it to me, I got more treats, extra tummy rubs, brushings, you name it.
Well, she figured that I would be able to give a better review of the book than her because she kept getting so dog-gone emotional. So, I barked out what should go into the newspaper for the review. Needless to say, she tried to add her two-cents every now and then.
I can’t wait to see if I get a by-line, whatever that is.
And to think some people think that Golden Retriever can only do bean commercials.
Need to go and see if there are anymore good dog books I can have my pet read to me.
For now, this is Buddy, barking off.

The guessing jar has changed shape.
Guesses can be made on the gallon pickle jar full of rocks that the librarian’s sons and grand-daughter have collected and given to her over the years until the end of May.
The rocks are all shapes, sizes and types. Stef thinks that there may even be a lump of coal in the jar.
She does know that there is one lump of coal that she can’t keep in the jar and it keeps disappearing someplace in the library. Help her find it, tell her in your quiet voice and receive a prize.

The apples have been retired for the fall reading session and Stef can “bearly” stay on top of things with all of the changes to the new year.
Young patrons can help her out by taking time to “paws 2 read” some of the new and favorite books of yours.
It will take 7 book titles to fill a paw to be placed on the wall with the polar bears.
There are boxes of seasonal and special feature books placed in the juvenile section or you just ask for help in finding the right book.

On a memorial plaque in the library is the name of Effie Bennett along with other names of individuals who have supported the printed word and the Weir Public Library.
According to her grand-daughter, Beverly Reiling, Weir, Effie helped put books in the library after the citizens voted to establish a library in 1896 and she also served on the board of trustees.
Reiling operates the Book Exchange in Pittsburg and has offered to help the library replace some of the books that have been lost or never returned.
“I just want to help keep going what my grandmother found special” said Reiling.
